Wed, Dec 10, 2008 - 8:15 PM CST - New hobby! New fun!
Greetings! After an absence of about year and three months I'm back! It has been an
eventful year and 3 months. Been busy mostly at work. However, I did manange to pick a new hobby! Photography!
As you might know that I have a Pictures section, where you can see some pics I and some of my pals took.
I'll be adding more pics which I took in last couple of months. So stay tuned.
Mon, August 13, 2007 - 10:30 PM CST - To ASP or not to ASP
ASP.NET 2.0 is an interesting scripting language. Due to some unwarrented mishap I had
to get involved in it. Trust me it was not easy! The syntax does mention JavaScript but once you get in
EVENTS, ARGUMENTS, and VIEWS you better hold on to your boat! And if you don't have the IIS configuration just right,
get ready for some confusing WebForm_DoPostBackOptions, WebResources.axd, and CryptoSecurity errors! Thanks God for
all the ASP.NET bloggers and forum goers or you'll be stuck in a triangle of never never land! Keep in touch.
Thurs, August 09, 2007 - 7:45 PM CST - Games to destress
Humans, in general, are very interesting species. They like to be entertained contstantly.
Some of us like to golf, others like to exercise, while others like to play Tennis. I, personally, found it very
destressing to play one of the First Person multiplayer games, Nova Logic's Delta Force Series initailly and
then Battlefield Series. The only down side was it was taking time away from family. So, balance is the key!
Sun, August 05, 2007 - 01:00 AM CST - The saga of inefficient tech support
It has been one of those weeks when one of the sites I admin, name with-held due to privacy
reasons, has been playing yoyo due to inefficient tech support who are not willing to read the ticket I created
to pin point what the problem is. Every time I send them an email a new person shows up asking the same
questions. Do you get a feeling that either they are doing this just to annoy you or they are too lazy to scroll
down and read why the ticket was created in the 1st place? I think it is the combination of both. I understand that
these guys/gals must get loads of suck tickets but how can someone be in this line of work and not able to read
all the detail? Can you imagine a doctor doing this? Results can be horrible! So, a request to all the Tech
Support people please read the whole document! May it be a Ops Ticket or an RFC!
Sun, July 29, 2007 - 09:40 PM CST - The quest for unlocked iPhone!
Apple recenlty introduced
iPhone. Like everyone
I went out to check it out. I must say it is every bit worth the hype as it was marketed. Slick design and trend setting
piece of equipment. However, the biggest turn off at least for me was the plans offered by AT&T here in US.
Individual plans were 450 min for $59.99, 900 min for $79.99, and 1350 mins for $99.99. Family plans were 700 mins
for $109.99, 1400 mins for $129.99, and 2100 mins for $149.99. Data plans and iPhone charges are on top
of that. Now the question is why in the world would I go out and get an iPhone when my current T-Mobile
Family plan give me 1000 family mins for $69.99!! I guess the best option is to wait for the unlocked versions
to show up. I did search for various hacking techniques being employed out there. But most of them leave the iPhone
as a pretty looking sound producing paper weight. So, conclusion? Wait.
Fri, June 15, 2007 - 10:20 PM CST - Mac vs MS!
Mac and MS' battle to grab user of the "other side" took a new twist this week.
Mac announced a PC based Beta of
Safari.
Sure enough the very next day Beta version 3.0 was made public. I've been using Safari and Mac OS X
at work and have been very impressed that how solid the platform is. I'm thinking of starting a
Mac for PC defectors area. Let me know what you think of the idea. Keep in touch.
Fri, June 09, 2007 - 10:37 PM CST - Summer is here!
It has been busy couple of months. Moved to new place. Moved to
new job. Didn't know moving was such a drag.
Summer is in full swing, with temperature hitting 90s.
Thurs, May 31, 2007 - 10:37 PM CST - To be Agile or not to be Agile!
Yep. Agile is an interesting methodology. Basically, bunch of people are put
in a room and expected to come up with a product. Sounds simple enough huh?
Sun, Mar 11, 2007 - 12:50 AM CST - Spring is in the air!
Last couple of days have been gorgeous! We had temp in 60s and 70s already!
Can you tell I'm excited? Partly, because I'm moving on to a newer place of residence and a newer
work place. Market is very good nowadays, so, you all who have been waiting to take
a plunge, this is time! It's definitely a employee-market out there! BBQ season is
approaching fast. Time to dust those grills and pile up the charcoal bags. ;)
Oh! And don't forget to take daily walking round!
Mon, Feb 19, 2007 - 09:52 PM CST - Old Man Winter is taking a break!
After much huffing and puffing Old Man Winter is taking a break. Weather
was simply gorgeous today, probably near 60 degrees. Forecast is mid to high 50s. Quite a change
from last week's snow storm which caused havoc from Midwest to North East.
Wed, Feb 14, 2007 - 09:15 PM CST - Winter claims it's right of passage!
Winter finally came and it made its presence felt. 3-6 inches where I live and 12 feet
in NY. What I don't understand is why were people so surprised? Almost every year we get similar storm at
the of Jan and first week of Feb. Get used to it people!
Fri, Feb 02, 2007 - 9:18 PM CST - Evolution continues
As promised, I've added some new and very scenic pictures. Some were
taken during the recent snow storm in my area by a friend, Kurt B. Others are from the
site of a friend,
Skinny,
during his trip Down Under, couple of years back. Please do visit his site to checkout
rest of the collection. Till next transmission. Over and out!
Sun, Jan 29, 2007 - 01:30 AM CST - Change is in the air
After procrastinating for year I finally decided to add
some new features to the the site, namely, a weekly pictures selection,
a forum for comments on the blog and weekly pictures, and last but not the least
offical contact email address. So, please feel free to look around enjoy the site.
Fri, Jan 27, 2007 - 12:58 AM CST - Peeks and Valleys
Yesterday Mr El was at it again. This time he brought temperature
in 60s while neighboring states are close to freezing. Talking of cold weather in the
neighborhood, gas prices have started going up again. Over the past week they have
risen from $1.87 to $2.07, hopefully we won't loose power again!
